Take a Caledonian MacBrayne ferry to Mull and Iona or a bus trip to see the rugged beauty of Glencoe or drive over the only bridge over the Atlantic and visit John C Taylor's Highland Arts at the island of Easdale. Spend a few hours in one of the local craft or souvenir shops in the town, a trip to the local distillery to sample a dram of 'Old Oban' whisky. A few hours at Ganavan sands about 2 miles to the west of Oban is recommended. As for eating out, there are many excellent resturants and cafes in the area including an Internet cafe. Sport

Shooting and fishing can be arranged by the local tackle shops. There is an 18 hole golf course or visit the local swimming pool, tennis court, squash courts and bowling green (just 200 yards from the guesthouse) or try a little gliding a few miles out of town at Connel Airport and if you have a head for heights bag a munro (climb a mountain over 3000 feet) or try your hand at sailing or diving to one of the many shipwrecks off the west coast. If you prefer dry land try a bit of pony trekking. There are several in the area and most of the above accommodate beginners as well as the experienced. Or why not mountain biking? Hiring bikes is easy and there are some wonderful places to ride.
