Details:
This workshop will cover 2 sessions from the Ulpan course structure and will give you a chance to speak some simple Gaelic very quickly.
Ùlpan is a fast and effective way to learn a language. It has been used to great effect in Wales, where Wlpan has brought thousands of adult learners to fluency in Welsh.
Bord na Gaidhlig and Highlands and Islands Enterprise have provided funds for stage one of the plan to introduce this new way of teaching Gaelic to Scotland and bring encouragement to the thousands of learners who struggle to reach fluency.
Many adult learners find that they can read and write Gaelic better than they can speak the language. With Ùlpan, speaking comes first, and reading and writing follow a little later.
Students learn through repetition of key structures and through language activities, with the emphasis on using the language, rather than on more academic skills like grammar.
Children under the age of 16 can attend these classes but must be accompanied by an adult.
